It is in no way Christlike to be an asshat!
I am so sad reading this article about the Indiana parents and teachers who would like their children to attend a “gay free” prom. So absolutely appalled.Sad.Mortified.And utterly confused.
Now... You all know that I believe EVERYONE has a right to his or her beliefs regardless if you or I share those beliefs.
These parents have the right to teach their kids that homosexuality is wrong even if I (or you) disagree. They have the right to their belief that homosexuality is a choice. They have the absolute right to ignore decades of research that points to clear biological origins.
I personally disagree with the gayisachoiceandabadoneatthat crowd,. I do not think homosexuality is wrong nor do I think that it is a choice. I think it is just a biological option like blue eyes or freckles., just how some people are born. That is my belief. That is another debate and another blog post..but I do not believe that those who identify as lesbian gay or transgender choose their orientation anymore than I chose mine.
However not everyone shares my belief. . They have the right to their beliefs. These parents have the right to refuse to associate with gay people.. They can choose to not have gay people in THEIR homes .They have the right to conduct their lives as they believe.
And as wrong as I find it, I guess they have the right to create a separate "non gay " prom as long as it is not affiliated with the school.
( Cause I do NOT believe that the school as a publicly funded entity should be involved in these sorts of religiously based political battles. In my opinion.)
So ok.. They can do this if they want to.
What makes this so sad though is the WHY? Why, as a parent would you do this? When it comes to the things that you as a parent could choose to get political about, could choose to use as teaching moments for your kids….
Of ALLL of the causes in the world. THIS is what you choose? You choose to attack children? Children JUST like your children. Children who are trying to navigate the tricky business of turning into adults? You choose to attack children who are trying to date and figure out relationships and emotions as all adolescents do.. As you did. As your kids are doing?
Why WOULD you pile any more hate and self doubt and self consciousness on a group of CHILDREN who have PLENTY of that on their plates? Why would you look at a group of children who already feel like outcasts..who already struggle with their self esteem and attempt to publicly tell them that they are somehow LESS?
And douchebaggery aside..
In the entire world with all of its problems… gay or potentially gay teenagers are the absolute worst thing going?
I think not. There are bigger fish.
And if you feel these actions are appropriate, I respect your right to your beliefs but I am pretty sure that my belief is that you are a mean spirited doodyhead.
This is just plain mean. It is mean, and it is unnecessary.
If you, as a parent are against homosexuality then you can sit down with your child and explain that belief and say, “in this family and this house we do not condone this etc ” and then act accordingly within your OWN home and your OWN family and the LAW.(meaning you can choose not to associate but you can't run them out of town with pitchforks!)
But you do NOT have to extend that disagreement into cruelty to others.Doesn't "Love the sinner hate the sin" ring any bells?
This behavior is NOT kind and it is certainly in no way CHRIST like.
Which brings me to. Hello?? Jesus people? Are you IN there??
It will NOT be a shock when i say that a Christian Church group instigated this particular incident. As is the case in MANY of these types of situations .This makes me CRAZY.I know lovely kind Christians who try very hard to make the world better and follow the teachings of Christ.
Jackwagons running around the world acting like A-holes and then saying it is in the name of Jesus makes me PUKE.
NOTHNG I have ever read in the teachings of Jesus has supported shunning those we disagree with… or refusing to associate with them. Does the bible offer stories of Jesus keeping himself away from those deemed “sinners” or does it say that Jesus walked the world TOUCHING everyone, mingling with the D-list particularly.. and ministering to everyone.?? (In case you are wondering..or you don't look at your bible much cause you think you have it down it’s the latter)
Am pretty sure that if Jesus popped down here right now.. right into the middle of this, he would go to the Gay Prom. And he would offer love and support and healing to those kids and every other kid... And he would assure them that they are ALL divine in the eyes of God. Gay Straight Pretty Ugly Shy Loud and even the know it all kid:)And he would say that God loves them and that they are beautiful and perfect just as they are and that they, like all of us , have a path to follow in this world . And they like all of us are never alone. And that they.. like all of us and loved.
And then... I would personally LOVE it if he went to the gay free prom people and ripped the doodyheads a new one :) I would like those types to be reminded that they are NOT God. And that they do not speak for God.And that God is not an asshat! And that they should really re-read their bibles because they have CLEARLY CLEARLY misunderstood the whole concept!!
So there.

Romance..Get some
On the DR Laura page today here question was "why do you think men do not court women like they used to?'
Want to know what I think? Well you are here.. so probably you do:)
Because women today give it all up to easy:)
There is no time to court... women are walking around throwing themselves at men willy nilly from grade school..Showing it all in public...flaunting their stable of partners( and sometimes multiple sperm donors) and in general acting in ways that would have made our great grandmas smack us with a wooden spoon!!
And I am not saying dont act sexy or seductive.. Sexy and seductive encompasses a whole RANGE of things that are not SLUTTY. There is a huge difference. Flirting is sexy.. and it is an art... Downing a shot and asking a guy to go into the public restroom with you.. not flirty..SLUTTY.:)IMO.
When women are acting this way..offering themselves up on a plate,,,There is no incentive for a man to earn the affections of a women he likes :(
There is no mystery no dance no romance...I am very old fashioned that way and the "feminists" can kiss my not hanging out of my pants butt ..cause the women's movement.. while valuable in many ways did us GREAT disservices in many other ways..And convincing us that we were EXACTLY the same as men and thus had to ACT like them in every way..THUS..giving them no expectation that they should act like gentleman EVER is a BIG disservice in my opinion!!
I like to be courted and romanced. And I picked a guy who did and does those things.
Our courtship was lovely because we were falling in love not the bathroom stall:) We actually DID spend the first night we met together..But FULLY clothed snuggled up under a comforter talking like we had just reunited after a hundred years:) And we spent almost every night after together... but I do not mind telling you...We did not sleep together until we were sure we were going to be together:) And it was a lovely courtship full of lovely memories and beautiful moments that served as building blocks for the life were have been building this last 11 years and counting!!
So that is my feeling on it chickies... Respect yourself ..honor your sexiness and your beauty and ALL that you are.. but don't throw it into the wind.. save it for someone who values you enough to put in some effort:)

Still more coffee talk
Ok still drinking my coffee and contemplating the world..About Margaret Cho who is on Ricki Lake right now.. She is such a liberal mouthpiece I want to hate her..but then I watch her for a few minutes and she has all these great things to say about things that I think about all the live long day...and I am all ohhhhhhh she sounds like ME... and I kinda LIKE her . and then she makes some stupid canned liberal comment and then I am done with her.:) Cannot decide... Humans are complex creatures:)!!!
Yay for Love!!
There was a mass Gay marriage ceremony in Bloomington IN this week. I say YAY!! And <3
Now...90% of the couples participating in this ceremony would probably HATE me over MOST of my other political opinions..but I am really happy to see these things happening in our crimson little state,
Fighting to keep something GOOD from happening(marriage) makes no sense to me in a world full of bad.
(And seriously.. one of the things I hear conservatives say about homosexual people ALL the time is that they are "so promiscuous"..soooo preventing them from making moral ethical legal monogamous commitments is the solution ???)
Everyone is entitled to their opinion on homosexuality and everything else. However making it your life's work to prevent others from getting married because you don't think they should.seems really petty in the face of all the things you COULD be fighting in the world.
To ME..this seems like such a small battle to choose.
There are tons of things I don't like in the world .. and I just don't surround myself with those things or I discuss and debate..
I don't walk around declaring that everything I don't like should be BANNED:) Cause REALLY.. if THAT is how it worked....watch out world!!!
Banning stuff is dangerous... cause eventually it gets around to YOU..
Anyway.. Yay red state!!
Love is a GOOD things to promote!!

DR Oz dinner
This is my Yay me super healthy dinner.
We eat this about twice a week... sometimes three if I make it for lunch.
Well.... by WE I mean ME..... cause Soldier man will not ingest a fish that has not been egged.. rolled in bread.. and fried.
So I.. eat this a couple nights a week and it is super easy SUPER healthy and cancels any cheeseburger or burrito I MAY or may not have eaten in that week!!:)
I call it Dr OZ dinner because it uses a whole bunch of the foods and spices that DR OZ is always going on about:) Almost because there are no chia seeds...although I guess you could throw some on top!!
Anyway...
You Need..
The Meat:
2 Wild Salmon Fillets. I like wild salmon cause it is more like meat..you can use whatever kind you like
The Marinade:
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 T chopped fresh ginger
2 T chopped fresh garlic
1 T dill
1/2 T tumeric
1/2 T black pepper
1/2 t red pepper
1/2 t sea salt
The sides
4 cups fresh spinach
3 T chopped garlic
1/4 onion chopped very fine
1 T chopped almonds(or walnuts or pine nuts or whatever:))
1/2 t olive oil
1/2 Avocado
1/2 cups cherry tomatos
Sooo..place the salmon in a big ziplock..combine the marinade ingriedients..wisk. and addd to bag.Marinate for 2-4 hours or overnight if you have the time.
Place the salmon in a baking dish cover with lid or foil and bake for 12 minutes (until it flakes easily with a fork)
While the fish is baking... sautee the garlic and onion in the olive oil.Add the nuts.Add the spinach and cook until just wilted.Stir it around to coat.
The avocado needs nothing but slicing:) Ditto on the tomatoes
And that is IT. Healthy... low carb... low cal... full of vitamins and minerals and stuff:)Full of foods that help and heal! And enough tatse and quality to make you wonder why you would WANT to even bother with a lean cuisine:)
When I say my aim is 80/20..this is a staple of my 80%:)
We are trying to make weeknight meals like this so that the splurges and indulgences(the 20%) balance out:)
And the further we go on this journey the LESS complicated it gets!! It is really NOT that hard to eat well!! Especially if you use your crock pot..prep ahead... or cook a few meals at a time to freeze.
A very wise Ms Shelli Adams , who has given me many really good food ideas...once told me that having food READY at home helped her to NOT stop for junk!! And she is right!!
If you know there is something good waiting for you you MIGHT forgo the Chick fil A: D!!!
Soooo get cooking.... and Happy Eating!!
(P.S,,I use this marinade for chicken as well!!)
(PPS.And I have no pic:)Cause I was hungry and I ate the dinner before I took a pic of it!!!)

Snowy Day Cookery
This snowy cold stillkindofsicky afternoon inspired stuffed peppers...:)
This is a low carb version and super easy!
This recipe makes 7-8 depending how you stuff them .
These freeze very well
and are enough for
3 meals and a lunch for soldier man and I..
2 or 3 meals if you are feeding a kid or two:)
1 # Ground beef(could use anything lean)
7-8 Green Red Yellow or Orange Peppers
3 small onions
2 cans of tomatoes with Italian spices and
2 shredded carrots and
1 shredded zucchini
1 egg
1/4 cup milk,
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/4 tsp each
turmeric,parsley,oregano,and basil and oregano
1/3 cup Parmesan.
Boil the peppers for
3 minutes
Pour one can of tomatoes on the bottom of baking dish and
arrange peppers.
Mix all the other ingredients and fill peppers .
Bake covered for 1
hour
Remove the cover and sprinkle with cheese( I am using
mozzarella)
Bake 10 more minutes until cheese melts
TADA!!
Also super cheap
because I got the beef and the peppers on sale($6.50 for the beef and
peppers and I used staples I always have on hand.)
*You can add a little rice in (1/4 cup) without skyrocketing the carbs.
*You can also do these in the Crock pot..
Do not boil the peppers, Set it up in the crock and cook on low 8-9 hours
And this was Mr. Picky Pants taking the meat out and turning his nose up at the peppers!!
